‘The Big Friday Show’ Debuts

Ace comedian, Basketmouth was revealed on Friday, August 5, 2011 as the host of ‘The Big Friday Show’, a brand new entertainment show from MTV Networks Africa and STV, at press briefing held at The Avenues Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.
The show will be made up of various segments like interviews with the hottest Nigerian celebrities, entertainment news and gossip from the digital sphere, a club review highlighting the best places to party when the weekend lands, and a weekly restaurant challenge where Lagos’ top chefs create ‘The Big Friday Show Special’.

The first episode of the show which aired last Friday, saw the young pop sensation Wizkid as the first celebrity on the receiving end of the show’s ‘pranks’ while 2face’s major hit song ‘African queen’ given a makeover as ‘African Weaver’, a humorous homage to fake hair.
Giving the press men a taste of what to expect when the show commences, a prank was played on MTV producer, Tim Horwood. A guy walked in during the course of the briefing, pushed all security men aside, walked towards the Horwood and began to harass him, claiming he owes him a certain amount of money. ‘Where’s my money! I want my money now! You’ve been owing me for six months; I’m not leaving here until I get my money‘, the heavily-built man screamed as he rough-handled Horwood and pushed him to the floor. Guests were fooled for a minute, until Basketmouth walked in and began to laugh. He (Basketmouth) then told Tim that he had just been pranked.
The Big Friday Show will also feature a fashion segment  titled ‘cool and fool’, filming of Rhythm FM’s on-air-personalities and their guests. Tweets from fans, E-mails, Text messages and creative Facebook comments submitted by viewers by the host will be read out on the show by Basketmouth too!
The Big Friday Show airs 6pm every Friday on the MTV Base block on Silverbird Television.
